New Intel on KING KONG VS. GODZILLA - Possible Team-Up, Size, and Connections
Last week we learned that Legendary Pictures would be developing a King Kong Vs. Godzilla movie with Warner Bros. We have a couple bits of information to share with you regarding the lead up to that movie.
The intel comes from THR's studio insiders. They claim that the first connection in this giant monster universe they are building will come in Kong: Skull Island. Apparently the current script they have for it makes reference to the Monarch company from Godzilla that Gareth Edwards introduced us to in his 2014 film. This will plant the seed for the upcoming big-screen duel.
There's also talk of the size comparison between the two monsters because Godzilla is obviously so much bigger than King Kong. One of the insiders says:
"There were funny comments about him having to be the size of the Empire State Building instead of hanging off of it."
It sounds like maybe King Kong will just be a much bigger ape this time around. They go on to say that Legendary Pictures will figure it out, and also hint that the two creatures could eventually team up:
"Legendary is confident it can come up with a rationale to explain how Kong and Godzilla can do battle - and possibly become allies."
Watching Kong and Godzilla fighting each other is going to be awesome, but the possibility of seeing them actually team up to fight another monster or robot is even better! They've never teamed up in a movie before, so seeing something like that would be incredibly fun.
The movie isn't supposed to be released until after Gareth Edward's Godzilla sequel, which comes out in 2018. I think it's safe to say that we won't see these monsters fight until at least 2019, so we've got a long way to go.
