New iPhones Will Require A Separate Purchase To Get The Dongle For Wired Headphones

If you’re planning on getting the new iPhone XS, Max, or even an older 8, 10, or 7, you’ll no longer get the dongle that’s included in the lightning port. As iPhone users know, this is the only way wired headphones will connect to the device, and anyone who doesn’t want to buy wireless headphones will now have to purchase the dongle separately for $9 (via The Verge).

To be fair, that’s because the phones will now come packaged with headphones that already have a lightning port on them, but this is a real bummer for those who have a separate pair of wired headphones.

Are you disappointed with this news, or have you already jumped into the world of wireless headsets?
