New Kid Friendly FANTASTIC FOUR Movie Possibly in the Works at Fox
Dammit, Fox. Just stop it. You have some of the coolest Marvel villains all under the Fantastic Four rights and instead of just admitting defeat and letting those rights roll over, you gotta pull this shit.
So, Bleeding Cool is reporting that Fox has started working on another Fantastic Four movie with the help of Seth Grahame-Smith. Grahame-Smith is an author who created the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book by mixing the original literature with his own zombified twist. He also was involved in helping with the last Fantastic Four movie script. And by help, I mean, trying to fix what was left of the train wreck of a script that existed.
This new Fantastic Four movie is said to be more "kid-friendly", starring Sue and Reed Richard's children Franklin and Valeria Richards, as well as Thing and Human Torch. Because that was what has been wrong with the series the whole time... It wasn't kid-friendly enough. The idea is to make it similar to The Incredibles who in their own right are kind of like the Fantastic Four.
Why does Fox keep trying? I mean money, I guess. But by this point, Fox has had a 0% success rate with Fantastic Four. It's more of a move out of spite more than anything else. Do I feel like the Fantastic Four should be kid friendly? Yeah, sure. They are a wacky group of characters who in a way are hero celebrities. But I don't think that means the story should focus on the kids. As characters, Franklin and Valeria Richards are just so freakin' boring. The few cool things they have been involved in have usually involved the rest of the Marvel 616. This sounds more like Shark Boy and Lava Girl than anything remotely good. You've tainted F4 Fox, now let them pass on to something better.
Just for the record. I have nothing against the writer or actors or anyone else who wants to be involved with this. My issue is with Fox Studios right now. So far, this is only a rumor. I hope it's false. I hope they aren't making another movie. We'll find out sooner or later. If they do make it, then I'll have a reason to be angry.
