New LEGO BATMAN Game Trailer Celebrates The Dark Knight’s Legacy
During Gamescom fans got their first look at Warner Bros. Games’ brand-new LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and it looks like a lot of fun! The trailer teases an original story that draws from Batman’s 86-year history across comics, TV, movies, and games, with some major nods to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
According to Warner Bros. Games, the adventure “begins with the origins of Batman as a young Bruce Wayne, and will include run-ins with characters like Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul.” On the villain side, expect heavy hitters like The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and more.
One of the biggest upgrades in this installment is a revamped combat system designed to capture the intensity of Batman’s fighting style. The game will also feature local co-op, letting players team up for Gotham’s toughest missions.
The game’s official description paints Gotham as a massive LEGO playground:
“The game takes place against the backdrop of Gotham City, an open-world LEGO playground full of crimes to stop, puzzles to solve, rewards to collect, and surprises to discover around every corner, down every alleyway, and on every rooftop.
“Players can grapple, glide, or drive through the environment, zipping from building to building with Batman’s grapple launcher, soaring over the city with the Batglider, or cruising around in style with a range of Batmobiles and Batcycles.
“The Batcave can also be customized to display vehicles, trophies, and collectibles, plus an assortment of wearable Batsuits based on past Batman related media.”
Between the cinematic references, the massive character roster, and the sheer scale of Gotham, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight looks like it will be the ultimate Dark Knight celebration in block form.
Set to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, Legacy of the Dark Knight takes players back to the beginning.
