New Light Shed on Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Holdo in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI
Not much is known about the new Star Wars character Vice Admiral Holdo who is being played by Laura Dern in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That has all changed now. Dern herself spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the character and I’m just going throw this up now just to be safe:
It appears that Holdo is going to be one of those characters that you will either love or be irritated by. If Leia Organa (played by the late Carrie Fischer) is your mother that you know are comfortable with, and love, then Holdo is like the mother of your girlfriend. Dern tells us, “She enters the Resistance to shake things up.” Some may see that as a good thing, change can be great. Change can also be bad. Oscar Issac also talked about the new Vice Admiral and the relationship between her and his character Poe Dameron in The Last Jedi saying:
Apparently, this friction is why the two are together on Entertainment Weekly’s The Last Jedi covers.
I think one of the biggest indicators we’ve been given as to her character comes from Issac who said:
Dern even mentions that Holdo represents, "stereotypes about women bosses." SHe continues saying:
In short, Holdo is going to shake things up which doesn’t sit well with members of the Resistance like Poe. Also of note, Poe and Holdo were both trained by the one and only General Leia.
Do you trust Holdo or is she going to be the Umbridge of Star Wars?
