New Look at Galactus in Promo Spot for THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS
A new teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps just dropped, and it gives us our clearest look yet at the Devourer of Worlds. Up until now, most of the promo material has focused on the Silver Surfer, who’s been playing intergalactic messenger, warning Earth’s favorite superhero family about what’s headed their way.
There have been glimpses of Galactus here and there, but nothing that really captured the sheer scale of the cosmic threat.
Near the end of the spot, as the Fantasticar zooms through the skyline, we get a shot of Galactus standing behind a towering skyscraper. That visual finally gives us a real sense of his size.
In the comics, Galactus’ height fluctuates wildly (he’s been everything from hundreds to thousands of feet tall), and while this version doesn’t appear to break the stratosphere just yet, there might be a reason for that.
Galactus could be adjusting his form. As in, maybe he’s showing up in a more "manageable" size before throwing down with the Fantastic Four.
Visually, this Galactus is ripped straight from the comics. He’s got the iconic purple armor, the crown-like helmet with the extended horns, glowing blue eyes—the whole deal. It’s a huge course correction from his last cinematic appearance in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, where he was... a cloud. A big one, sure, but still just a space storm. “The Silver Surfer makes plenty of trouble before Galactus shows up, and it’s good he does because the Devourer of Worlds is nothing more than a giant cloud.”
Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus this time around, hasn’t delivered any voice lines in the promos yet, but when he does, expect it to shake the theater.
