New METROID DREAD Trailer Leans More Into The Horror Aspect of The Franchise
We have gotten another trailer for Nintendo’s newest Metroid game, Metroid Dread. In it we get more of a glimpse of the story line to expect from the game, a parasite that can imitate its prey has been rediscovered after having been thought to be extinct.
The Galactic Federation sent 7 E.M.M.I robots to investigate the planet this virus is thought to be on only to have each robot disappear. Considering all the crazy robots we have seen in the trailers up to this point it’s not hard to assume what has happened.
This storyline gives it a very similar vibe to The Thing, the classic horror movie with the alien that can imitate anything and anyone, and I am here for it. Metroid has always had a vaguely creepy vibe with the variety of monsters you fight, but I really appreciate them really leaning into the more horror aspect the games have had the potential to have.
I am really excited for this game to come out. While my first introduction to Metroid was with the Prime trilogy, I’ve been going back and playing the remakes of the original games in preparation for this one's release.
Check out the new trailer here and then look for Metroid Dread launching on October 8, 2021.
