New MORTAL KOMBAT Clip Teases Film's Opening Fight Scene and There's a New Poster
A promo clip has been released for the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat movie. This clip teases the opening fight scene of the film between Hanzo Hasashi, a.k.a. Scorpion, and a bunch of Lin Kuei assassins.
The film kicks off with “a crucial piece of lore from the original games: the blood feud between the clans of Hanzo and Bi-Han.” This clip is just a taste of a 10-minute opening sequence that is set in feudal Japan, “long before these fighters wielded supernatural abilities as Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and it ends in a pretty nasty hand-to-hand combat between the two.”
The clip also shows the origin of Scorpion’s kunai blade, which is actually an ancient Japanese gardening tool that has been turned into an insane weapon of death.
The film comes to us from producer James Wan and director Simon McQuoid, and it looks like the creative team is going to deliver a badass and fun movie that fans are going to love.
In the film, “MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) is unaware of his heritage - or why Outworld’s Emperor seeks to hunt him down. Cole finds sanctuary under Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe. Will Cole be able to unleash his arcana in time to stop the Outworld once and for all?”
Mortal Kombat is scheduled to be released in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16th.
