New Namor Photo in BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Who is Confirmed to Be a Mutant
Thanks to Empire, we have a new photo to share with you from Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever featuring Tenoch Huerta in the role of Namor. Director Ryan Coogler also shared some insight on the film as well that you might be interested in reading.
In regards to the introduction of Namor: The Sub-Mariner, Coogler said: “The contrast between T’Challa and Namor – their characters, and their nations – just leaps off the page. He’s a dream antagonist.”
Huerta also talked about this new incarnation of the character, which is inspired by the culture and history of Mesoamerica, saying: “You can take Atlantis from Greek myth, or you can adapt from a real culture.” Rather than being the ruler of Atlantis, this new version of the character is the ruler of Talocan.
It’s explained that the motivation of Namor in the story is drawn by the ramifications of T’Challa’s decision in Black Panther’s final reel to reveal the truth of Wakanda to the world. “That decision puts Talocan in jeopardy, and Talocan has to take action to protect themselves.”
Also, it’s confirmed that this version of Namor is indeed a mutant.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also stars Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, Angela Bassett, and Martin Freeman.
The movie is set to be released on November 11th, 2022.
