New Photo From The AVATAR Sequels Reveals The Young Actors Playing Jake and Neytiri's Kids
James Cameron started production on Avatar 2 this week, which is the first of four sequels that he will make. When all is said and done, Cameron will have spent over $1 billion to make these films. I really hope that he can once again blow us away.
A new photo has surfaced from the set of the film giving us our first look at a group of young actor who will be playing Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri's (Zoe Saldana) kids. It looks like the two have been getting busy a lot on Pandora since the first movie!
According to EW, the kids will play a "crucial role" in the upcoming sequels. Some of these young actors also play the children of another Na’vi clan called the Metkayina, "who dwell on giant oceanic atoll reefs under the rule of a leader named Tonowari (Cliff Curtis)".
All of the kids in the picture will be Na'vi except for one. There is one actor who is playing a human in the photo. That actor is 12-year-old Jack Champion, who is seated in the above photo with dark hair. He will play Javier “Spider” Socorro, "a human teenager born at the Hell’s Gate military complex, a crucial location in the first film."
When talking about the addition of the kids, executive producer Jon Landau explains how they will be the biggest focus shift from the original movie.
“We never had this youthful element before, and that brings a different kind of energy to the film. They represent the future generation of Pandora and play a very significant role — not just in this movie but throughout all the movies.”
It will be interesting to have this youthful element added to the continuing story. I'm looking forward to learning more about what Cameron is planning for these films. We've got a long way to go, but it seems like the hype is slowly building for the Avatar sequels.
