New Photos and Details For Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham's OPERATION FORTUNE: RUSE DE GUERRE
Director Guy Ritchie and actor Jason Statham have teamed up again for a new spy thriller project titled Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre. This is the fifth collaboration between the two talents and today we have some new photos and details to share with you!
The movie also stars Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Bugzy Malone, Cary Elwes, and Hugh Grant. In the film, “MI6 guns-and-steel agent Orson Fortune (Statham) is recruited by a global intelligence alliance ‘Five Eyes’ to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert Sarah Fidel, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity, and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds.”
When talking about the reason for making the movie, Ritchie explained to EW, "The truth is I wanted another alibi to give me a reason to work with Jason again because I enjoy collaborating with him so much."
Ritchie went on to talk about the involvement of Plaza, who doesn’t really make these kinds of action films. He said, "It felt fresh and she felt capable. I am more than delighted with the result."
When talking about the title of the film, the filmmaker said, "You have to look up the meaning of 'Ruse de guerre;' it's too ironic a premise to ignore. Somehow only the French have managed to capture the meaning within a term, 'the accepted unorthodox approach to war' which is really what our film is about."
Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre was written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man), with revisions by Ritchie. It will hit theaters in 2022.
