New Photos From James Cameron's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Feature Some New Characters
We’ve got a few new photos to share with you from James Cameron’s highly anticipated film, Avatar: The Way of Water. This has been a 13-year journey for the filmmaker, and one of the reasons why it took so long to make is because they had to develop the technology needed to make it! But, the sequel is finally coming at the end of the year, and it looks like it’s going to deliver a beautiful, visually stunning epic.
I’ve already seen about 15 to 20 minutes of the movie and one thing they aren’t showing in these trailers that have been released is the badass action sequence! So, while some people may think this is going to be a beautiful yawn-fest, get ready because the action that I’ve seen is pretty spectacular. The new photos feature some of the new characters in the world of Pandora.
The film is set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”
They will also find themselves facing off with Stephen Lang’s Colonel Quaritch, who returns in Na’vi form, with a score to settle. The movie also stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
Cameron previously explained why he wants to keep making these Avatar films, saying: "I just look back on everybody's work and just so grateful to have had an opportunity to work with these amazing people. And I think that's why I promptly went out and wrote another and another and another Avatar. I just wanted to continue with this family, which is such a great, great experience."
Three additional films that will continue the series are set. Avatar 3 is tentatively scheduled for December 20, 2024; Avatar 4 is set for December 18, 2026; and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028. Thanks to Total Film for the photos.
