New Photos From George Miller's JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL Features the Team in Costume
Last week we shared a photo of the cowl design that Armie Hammer’s Batman would be wearing in director George Miller’s unproduced DC film, Justice League Mortal. That image came from Ryan Unicomb, who is currently developing a documentary detailing the unmade project. He has since shared three new photos that you’ll definitely want to check out.
They are low-quality images, but they feature the heroic superhero team all decked out in their costumes. They include Batman, Superman (D.J. Cotrona), Wonder Woman (Megan Gale), Flash (Adam Brody), Aquaman (Santiago Cabrera), Green Lantern (Common), and Martian Manhunter (Hugh Keays-Byrne). The photos were accompanied with the following note:
For now these are all I can share. I know there’s MASSIVE interest in the story behind #JusticeLeagueMortal but there is pushback from the studio and most of the creatives involved. It’s understandably a sore point for many involved. We’re collating everything we have to be able to pitch it properly. It may require a kickstarter or something at some stage, or it may not. I’m 5 years into the journey of getting this made and I VERY much appreciate your patience. I know how important this lost chapter is to us all; as movie goers, as comic readers, as pop culture fans. Rest assured we WANT to be able to show you EVERY costume properly. We WANT to show you the Batmobile. We WANT to show you the Fortress of Solitude. We WANT the artists who worked tirelessly for months to get their well deserved due. We’ll continue to do our best. Be well. Stay safe!

Justice League Mortal was planned to be released in the late 2000s but was scrapped when Warner Bros. was inspired by the success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. At the time they wanted to focus more on solo DC properties instead of a team up movie. It’s a shame this movie never got made. The film also starred Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, the late Anton Yelchin as Wally West, and Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul.
For those of you who are curious about this film and the story it would have told, you can read a breakdown of the script here, or watch a live-read of it here.
