New Photos From JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Features the Atrociraptor and More Story Details
The countdown is on to this summer’s next installment in the Jurassic franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion, which welcomes back Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern. The film, which also welcomes back director Colin Trevorrow, takes place four years after 2018's Fallen Kingdom, which is plenty of enough time for dinosaurs to have found a way to flourish around the globe after having escaped in the last film.
We have a couple new photos to share with you. The first features Pratt taming a dinosaur and the second features Pratt being chased down by a new Raptor called the Atrociraptor.
Trevorrow sat down with EW to talk about the film, and explained the opening scene of the movie:
"They have been multiplying and living amongst us and clashing with us.” The other Jurassic Park movies "pretty much have the same story. But Dominion is set all over the world, through many different environments: wilderness, urban, desert, snow. It's exciting to see these creatures navigate environments that they weren't built to survive in. They grew up in a theme park and now they're here!"
At the start of the film, Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing and Chris Pratt's Owen Grady are still attempting to save the dinosaurs, with Owen rounding up parasaurs in the Sierra Nevadas, as you can see in the photo above. Trevorrow said:
"He's not too far from where the dinosaurs got out in the last film. The parasaurs are in danger of being poached. There's a lot of shady types out there who want to get their hands on dinosaurs, so he's working to protect them."
Trevorrow is less ready to talk about where we find Claire:
"I don't want to say just yet. But she's at a point where she's questioning her methods, and whether she can stay safe and fulfill the responsibility that she has to the other people in her life that care about her."
As for the return of Neill, Goldblum, and Dern, Trevorrow assures fans that the trio will have more than just a cameo:
"They have equal screen time to Chris and Bryce. They're major characters from start to finish."
The director describes Dominion as more of a "science thriller" than the horror-flavored, J.A. Bayona-directed Fallen Kingdom, and strongly hints that the movie's villain will be Campbell Scott's Lewis Dodgson:
"He is the main villain throughout both of [Crichton's] novels, and I think what Campbell's done with the character is just amazing. I can't wait for people to see it."
in a separate interview with Empire, Trevorrow teased the Atrociraptor saying:
“It’s a sequence set in Malta. And the picture speaks for itself – it’s Chris Pratt being chased by an Atrociraptor. And if they catch up, he’s gonna die, I can tell you that.”
And we can’t wait to see it! I can’t wait to see this one on the big screen. Jurassic World Dominion is set to be released in theaters on June 10th. Are you getting excited?
