New Photos From THOR: RAGNAROK of Hulk, Thor, and More and The Director Explains That It's Not a Sequel
Thanks to Empire we have a couple cool Magazine covers for Thor: Ragnarok featuring Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). We also have some new photos from inside the magazine showing off more characters and teasing news scenes, including Thor and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on Earth as they are searching for Odin (Anthony Hopkins). We also get to see new photos of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Skurge (Karl Urban), and the Grandmaster.
We also have some details on the continuity of Thor: Ragnarok. While talking to io9, director Taika Waititi explained that the movie is not a sequel to the other Thor films. He did not want to come into this making a follow-up movie.
"To be honest, what I did was I tried to approach it like there were no other films. I wanted to make this a standalone film, and I love Thor 1 and Thor 2, but if I was going to make this film my own, I couldn't come in and try to make like a follow-up movie."
As you've seen in the trailers, the movie definitely stands apart from the other two movies. It has a completely different tone and style. As much as I enjoyed the other Thor films, I love everything that I've seen from Ragnarok and I can't wait to see how the story plays out! One thing we know for sure is that even though it's not a sequel to the past movies, it definitely helps set up the story for Avengers: Infinity War.
