New Photos of Dwayne Johnson in RAMPAGE and He Says It Will Be an Exhilarating Ride
Thanks to USA Today we have two new photos featuring Dwayne Johnson in the feature film adaptation of Midway's classic monster arcade game Rampage. As you'd expect, Johnson looks like a complete badass ready to kick some monster ass.
In the film, Johnson plays a heroic primatologist named Davis Okoye whose best friend happens to be a 7-foot-tall, 500-pound rare albino silverback gorilla named George. When previously talking about the film, the actor said:
"I head up an anti poaching unit out of Rwanda. My best friend is a rare albino gorilla named, George. Very bad people infect George, an alligator and a wolf with a serum. All three animals grow at an unprecedented rate. Their size, speed, agility and violent aggression is off the charts. They go on a deadly rampage and want to destroy the world. George not happy. Me not happy. When animals like you, they lick you. When they don’t like you, they kill you. I will hunt down the bad people who did this to my best friend. And when I find them, I will not lick them."
The report goes on to offer some additional story details:
Davis notices George getting more sizable and consequently more uncontrollable, and as he tries to help, it soon becomes clear the gorilla’s not the only beast affected: By the end of the movie, Davis is trying to keep George, a 30-foot wolf named Ralph, and Lizzie, a crocodile the size of a football field, from wrecking Chicago while also attempting to save his friend.
When comparing Rampage to the last film Johnson and director Brad Payton made together, San Andreas, Johnson says:
“You have to ratchet up the dial 10 times with Rampage. These monsters are relentless, and audiences are going to find that ride very exhilarating. As an actor in the movie, it’s fun and daunting. It’s 12- to 14-hour days of survival, and it’s not quiet survival either.”
I was a huge fan of this game when I was a kid. I played it in the arcade all the time and I'm kind of excited to see how this movie turns out. I hope it's good and I hope we get to see what the giant creatures look like! There's a trailer coming out this Thursday so stay tuned for that!
