New Plot and Character Details Shared for WONDER WOMAN 1984

There’s so much we don’t know about the story that director Patty Jenkins has planned for Wonder Woman 1984. At this point there’s the basic information that Gal Gadot is back as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine is returning as Steve Trevor, and Kristen Wiig is taking on the role of Cheetah. We also know that Pedro Pascal is said to be playing a character named Max Lord, and the film is set in the ‘80s.

There have been a lot of rumors and speculation regarding these characters and how they will be worked into the story. Now, thanks to That Hashtag Show, we have new rumored information to share with you regarding the story and the characters. They reveal:

Thanks to our sources, we can tell you that the plot involves Diana Prince acting as a spy during the Cold War. Her mission? Hunt down a nefarious Russian spy. This film will also deviate from the Wonder Woman timeline established in Batman v. Superman. In Wonder Woman: 1984 the character is already known as a superhero. (In BvS, to the contrary, Bruce Wayne discovered her “secret”.)

They then get into some more spoiler filled details about the story, so if you don’t want to know any more than what’s above, don’t read ahead.

In regards to Kristin Wiig’s character Barbara Minerva and how she becomes Cheetah, as well as how Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor comes comes back to life, it all comes down to the character Maxwell Lord.

In the comics, “Maxwell Lord becomes a meta-human as a side-effect of an alien invasion. His initial power was of mind-manipulation. For Wonder Woman: 1984, however, Maxwell Lord will have the ability to grant people’s wishes… at a price.”

This is the power that makes it possible for Steve Trevor to return. It’s also the power that transforms Minerva into Cheetah. She is a huge fan of Wonder Woman and wants to be a hero like her. She starts out as a hero at first, but “her beast side becomes unmanageable. People turn on her out of fear, forcing her down the villain’s path. It’s up to Diana to stop her.”

It’s also said that Lord will also transfer his soul to another person… and that person will be Steve Trevor. These are all just rumors for now, but it will be interesting to see if these details end up being legit. If they are, I’m curious to see how the story plays out and comes to an end.

Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters on June 5th, 2020. What do you all think about these latest story details?
