New Plot Details Revealed for FROZEN 2
Since getting the latest trailer for Frozen 2 last week, we have received a bit more news about the plot, and some key scenes that were revealed at the Annecy Animation Festival in France for the film. The heads of animation and effects over at Disney, Becky Bresee and Marlon West, revealed that the sequel will pick up three years after the events of the first film. Bresee said, via a report from THR:
“It's an evolution and an expansion of the story of Frozen, and many of the questions raised in the first movie become the mysteries that our gang are trying to solve in this film.”
Bresee went on to add that the main question of the film is:
“Why was Elsa born with her powers?”
West added:
“[It's] about two sisters trying to stay together while the world tries to tear them apart.”
The key scenes that were shown at the festival included the scene we’ve seen in the trailer of Elsa turning a wave into ice and swimming deep into the ocean. Another one included Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristof playing charades in the forest, but Elsa is too distracted by a sound she is hearing from deep within the forest. Many of the scenes and artwork revolve around this theme, that there is something deeply troubling to Elsa, that she has to discover. Key scenes show Elsa hearing the sound, and key artwork shows Elsa as a child, with her father telling her bedtime stories. Bresee explained that these pieces are inspired by “the ancient Swedish herding call Kulning.”
There is so much history and so many fan theories that were connected to the first film (like Elsa and Anna’s parents being shipwrecked and actually being Tarzan’s parents, and the fact that Rapunzel and Eugene from Tangled were in attendance at Elsa’s inauguration) that this rich franchise can delve into. It’s pretty exciting.
Frozen 2 is due out in theaters November 22, 2019. Are you excited for this sequel?
