New Poster and Featurette For Peter Jackson's MORTAL ENGINES Focus on Hester Shaw

I’m actually really excited about the Peter Jackson-produced film Mortal Engines. It looks like one of the most epic ridiculous movies ever made. I’m intrigued by both the story and visuals and it doesn’t hurt that it stars Hugo Weaving. I really do hope that this movie does well because it’s such a different and unique story that doesn’t really look like anything we’ve seen before.

Today we’ve got a new poster and a featurette for you to watch that focuses on the main character of the story, Hester Shaw, who is played by Hera Hilmar (Da Vinci’s Demons). The featurette includes some cool new footage along with interviews with members of the cast and crew.

The film comes from director Christian Rivers from a script co-written by Jackson himself and Philippa Boyens. The movie is based on the British series of novels by Philip Reeve and this is the synopsis:

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

The cast for the film also includes, Robbie Sheehan (Geostorm), South Korean singer and actress Jihae (Mars), Ronan Raftery (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Leila George (Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?), Patrick Malahide (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).

Mortal Engines will hit theaters on December 14th.
