New Promo Spot For THE PUNISHER and Jon Bernthal says We Have Yet to See the True Punisher
People are pretty pumped about the new Punisher series to come out. Maybe even more so than The Defenders. For one, as far as anyone can tell, Iron Fist won't be in it. But the other thing that is so exciting is seeing how Frank Castle evolves as a character. From first seeing him in Daredevil Season 2, our expectations were set pretty high up. But we may be in for something completely new with The Punisher because according to Bernthal, who plays Castle, we haven't seen the real Punisher in the series yet.
In a Q&A with fans at Salt Lake Comic Con, Jon Bernthal revealed that according to him, Frank Castle hasn't become the Punisher yet:
"The way I look at it is that his time in the military is sort of separate. The character that was in Daredevil season two, that wasn't the Punisher to me. That was a man that this traumatic event - he's still reeling from that. Everything in his life has been a reaction to that. he's not a guy looking to rid the criminal element of Hell's Kitchen. He could care less about that. He's not about that."
The second season of Daredevil was all about Frank Castle's one-man mission against the people who wronged him and had anything to do with his family's murder. But the solo series will deal with his change. How he goes from a man fueled by revenge to a man set on punishment. This is also seen in a new promo video posted on the Punisher Twitter Page. It shows Punisher ready to collect as a skull is spray painted over his face. Check it out below.
I can't wait to see how they flesh out this character in the upcoming series. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up.
