New READY PLAYER ONE Promo Spot Shows More T-Rex Footage and Two New Photos
As I've gone through my social media feeds, I've been surprised by how many people who claim to be "movie geeks" aren't excited to see Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One. I don't quite get it. Either they haven't read the book that the film is based on, or they had a childhood void of geek culture awesomeness.
If you're an avid reader of the site, then you already know how excited I am for this movie and how much this story resonates with me. Anyway, we've got a new promo spot for the film to check out below that offers a bit of new footage involving the T-Rex from Jurassic Park.
I've also included a couple new photos from Empire. One photo shows Steven Spielberg directing a scene with Ben Mendelsohn, who plays the villain, Nolan Sorrento, in the film. As you can see, he's logged into the OASIS.
The other photo gives us a look at Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) as James Halliday and Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) as Halliday's business partner Ogden Morrow. This is most likely a flashback scene showing the two characters in the process of creating the OASIS.
It's not much, but it's something for the fans to check out! If for some reason you aren't excited about this movie, I'm curious to know why.
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
Ready Player One will be released on March 29th.
