New Release Dates For THE SHINING Sequel, GODZILLA 2, and THE SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN

Warner Bros. has announced a few new release dates for three of their big upcoming films. Director Mike Flanagan's sequel to Stephen King's The Shining, Doctor Sleep, will be released on January 24th, 2020. Director Mike Daugherty's Godzilla 2 will be released on May 31st, 2019. Then there's Mark Wahlberg's The Six Billion Dollar Man, which be released on June 5th, 2020.

Doctor Sleep is being directed by the same guy who brought us Oculus, OuijaGerald's Game and Hush. The story takes place several years after the events that took place at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. It focuses on Jack's son Danny who is now a middle-aged man. He is still traumatized by what happened at the hotel all those years ago, and throughout his life has to deal with anger management and alcoholism issues. However, in an effort to get his life back together, he gives up drinking and settles down in a small town in New Hampshire. It is at this point in his life where his psychic abilities start to resurface and he develops a psychic link with a 12-year-old girl named Abra Stone. Turns out this girl's life is being threatened by a tribe of paranormals who suck the energy from people. They are led by a man named Rose the Hat and Danny has to save her from them.

Godzilla 2 comes from the director who brought us Trick 'r Treat and Krampus. The story "follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance."

The Godzilla sequel stars Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Conjuring), Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Aisha Hinds (Star Trek Into Darkness), Ken Watanabe and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

The Six Billion Dollar Man currently doesn't have a director. Damian Szifron was recently fired from the film "due to creative differences and, possibly, a ‘language barrier.'” There is a rumor that the studio is trying to get Mel Gibson, who is also expected to join the cast.

The film is an adaptation of the classic 1970s TV series called The Six Million Dollar Man. I assume the film's story will be similar to the TV show which follows a pilot named Steve Austin, who gets shot down and nearly killed. In an effort to save his life, a secret government agency comes in and upgrades him with bionic implants which makes him part man and part machine.
