New Report Claims DOCTOR WHO Veteran David Tennant Has Had Preliminary Talks About Returning to the Role
This is a tumultuous time for fans of the decades-long running sci-fi series Doctor Who. The future of the series is up in the air, viewership is at an all-time low, and the BBC has finally put the beloved show out for competitive tender.
Under the BBC Charter, the national broadcaster is required to put 100% of eligible shows out for tender by the end of next year, so it could mean a big change, or it could just be a short-term shake up before getting back on track.
Clearly, things need to change before the next seasons move forward, and many ideas are being throw around. One that stands out comes is in a report from The Times, which says Dean Devlin at Electric Entertainment has had preliminary talks with the BBC, and has even reached out to Tenth (and Fourteenth) Doctor David Tennant to discuss the idea of bringing him back.
Some are confused about whether this means Electric Entertainment is breaking the rules by jumping the gun ahead of the show’s official tender release, but others are saying it’s totally acceptable to be in early talks without any official deals being inked.
