New RICHARD JEWELL Clip and Behind the Scenes Featurette Shows How Clint Eastwood Brought the Tragic Story to Life
We’ve got a new clip from the film Richard Jewell, the heartbreaking true story of the American security guard who saved thousands of lives when he discovered a bomb at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia, but was then falsely reported as the terrorist who planted the bomb and was vilified for it. The film is directed by Clint Eastwood, from a screenplay by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips).
Richard Jewell is played by Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman), with Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Kathy Bates (Fried Green Tomatoes), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Olivia Wilde (House) co-starring.
The first clip is a scene in the film where Richard Jewell’s mother, played by Bates, makes a statement to the media, pleading for the innocence, truth, and privacy to be restored to her son and their lives. It’s truly gut-wrenching, and an incredible performance. The second clip shows some behind the scenes of making the movie, as well as some of the actors and Clint Eastwood talking about what drew them to the film and the story it tells.
Check them out below, and see Richard Jewell in theaters on December 13th.
