New RISE OF SKYWALKER Rumor is About Who Rey's Parents Could Be

There are a lot of rumors going around in regard to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. One hot topic is Rey’s parentage. Star Wars: The Last Jedi set things up so that Rey’s parents would be of no significance. Some people were not happy with this and are hoping that J.J. Abrams doesn’t continue that idea.

Well, the Patreon podcast for Making Star Wars (via ComicBook) recently talked about a rumor about who Rey’s parents are.

Possible spoiler if rumor is true:

The rumor goes that Rey is the daughter of Han Solo, but not Leia. Han cheated on Leia with another woman when Leia was training with Luke which resulted in Rey being born. When Ben Solo (Kylo Ren) finds out, that’s when he is sent to train with his Uncle Luke.

As Making Star Wars notes that this is an unverified rumor and that’s all.

I personally would hate this. I love the idea of Rey not being connected to any of the major characters we already know. The theme being presented in this new trilogy is that anyone can be a hero. Yes, I know that it’s still part of the Skywalker saga, but that doesn’t mean that everyone has to be a Skywalker (or related to a major character). I also don’t like the idea of Han cheating on Leia.

What do you think though? Do you like this rumor?

The Rise of Skywalker will be in theaters on December 20, 2019.
