New Rumor Claims HBO is Auditioning Both Men and Women For the Role of Lord Voldemort in HARRY POTTER Series

The Harry Potter series that is in development at HBO is up against the difficult task of making a show that stands apart from the beloved films that were made based on the books.

The movies established some great actors in the roles, who embodied the characters we already knew and loved, but brought them to life on the screen.

The series has an advantage of being able to focus on the parts of the story that were not shown in the films due to time constraints, but the casting seems to be biggest hurdle for the show’s creative team.

If a new rumor that’s floating around proves to be true, there’s one casting decision that will really set the show apart. According to industry scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com), "For the Harry Potter show, they’re auditioning both men and women for Voldemort, so it’s possible we could see a female Voldemort in the series."

That would be a change, but honestly, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Voldemort is just an evil being that doesn’t have a lot of human qualities, so the villain really could be played by anyone who can bring that darkness to the role.

The Harry Potter series is still in pre-production, and is slated to hit HBO in 2027.
