New Rumor Claims Marvel Studios Is Moving Forward With THE FANTASTIC FOUR 2 and They Have a Director in Mind
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a highly anticipated new chapter in the MCU. Despite some complaints from viewers that the film’s pacing felt rushed, and the absence of the deleted footage was missed, the movie was well received overall, and the characters will seemingly be a key component in the upcoming event film, Avengers: Doomsday.
But what will happen to Marvel’s first family after the events of Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars?
A new rumor from insider @MyTimeToShineH claims, "Despite not being a huge box office hit, Marvel [is still planning] a Fantastic Four 2 post–Secret Wars and wants Matt Shakman back to direct. They believe the team's role in the Avengers films will draw more people to see the sequel."
The actors and setup of The Fantastic Four were really great. The story seemed like it was just there to tee up the introduction of Doctor Doom, and we could have used a full series or a longer film to really get to know these characters, but I look forward to seeing them return in the Avengers movies, and if the rumor is true, then their sequel as well.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduced us to Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).
The film is now available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and is streaming on Disney+.
