New Rumor Claims Marvel TV Series Will No Longer Feature Big Name Characters From the Films Moving Forward
Marvel has produced some solid TV series over the years in their partnership with Disney+, including WandaVision, Hawkeye, Agatha All Along, Loki, and more, with a few also not being as well-received, but still being a part of the MCU tapestry. But if recent rumors are true, we may be seeing a shift in the characters who are featured in the shows moving forward.
In a recent report from Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider (via SuperHeroHype), the surviving members of the Thunderbolts, now known as the New Avengers, and the Fantastic Four will “pop up in all kinds of Marvel movies” going forward.
Marvel Studios fans shouldn’t expect to see them in any forthcoming TV shows, however, as, according to Sneider, “the upcoming Vision series will be the last Marvel series to feature major characters from the movies.”
“You’ll get mentions of major characters, just like how Spider-Man (the Peter Parker version) was referenced in Daredevil: Born Again, during a speech where newly elected mayor Wilson Fisk mentions a ‘man who dresses in a spider outfit’ while condemning costumed vigilantes,” Sneider wrote. “There are going to be a whole lot more references like that in Marvel shows, but look for those shows to continue to be based around characters like Wonder Man, who arrives new to the MCU on Disney+ in December, rather than Vision, a big-screen character whom audiences are accustomed to paying to see.”
So I understand that as a promise that we will probably see some of the Marvel TV characters in the movies, but not vice versa. Just like the movies, I think the recent Marvel shows are on an upswing after their slump, and I look forward to see what else comes of the world their building within the series.
