New Rumor Claims to Confirm Whether Ryan Reynolds Will Appear in as Deadpool in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY
The confirmed cast list for Avengers: Doomsday is already expansive, and we know we still have a ways to go in finding out who else is involved, but there are some MCU actors who fans are most eager to hear about, and we are awaiting confirmation. One of those is Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, and made his MCU debut in last summer’s blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Most of us are expecting to see him show up in some capacity, seeing as how he is a fan favorite character, but it may also make sense for the studio to want to hold out some fun surprises for the follow-up film, Avengers: Secret Wars.
Now, we have an update from a respected source that points to the first assumption being true. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman has reported that he can "100% confirm" the anti-hero will be in the upcoming ensemble.
Will Hugh Jackman's Wolverine join him? That’s a fair assumption, as they seem closely associated after the events of their last film, but there’s no confirmation as of yet.
Reynolds has previously said of his position in the MCU, "I don’t think he should ever be an Avenger or an X-Man. If he becomes either, we’re at the end.”
When asked if that means he'd turn down Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, or even the eventual X-Men reboot, he responded, "Just the opposite! I think Deadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider.
“His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can’t be accepted. His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Man, we’re at the end of his journey."
Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 18, 2026.
