New Rumor Claims to Reveal Interesting Marvel Character May Be Set to Return in GHOST RIDER
The reveal of Ghost Rider’s debut in the MCU was pretty exciting to fans, and with Ryan Gosling starring, and Shawn Levy directing, the film is shaping up to be a hit in the MCU’s next chapter. But a new rumor adds a whole other layer of intrigue to the film’s story.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Oscar nominee Sacha Baron Cohen will reprise his Ironheart role of the villainous Mephisto in the 2028 Ghost Rider movie.
In the comics, Johnny Blaze makes a deal with Mephisto to save his adoptive father, Crash Simpson, from terminal cancer. Despite that, Crash dies shortly after in a motorcycle stunt and, taking payment for the debt he's owed, Mephisto bonds Johnny's soul with Zarathos, turning him into Ghost Rider.
Richtman also revealed that Marvel Studios is developing Midnight Sons as its next supernatural project after Ghost Rider, suggesting Johnny's movie will lead directly into that. It makes sense, as that would set the stage for a gathering of heroes—Ghost Rider, Blade, and Moon Knight, for example—to assemble for a battle with a big bad like Mephisto.
CBM also reports that scooper @MyTimeToShineH has revealed that director Ron Howard is in talks for a Marvel project. There's currently no word on what that is, but Midnight Sons is a possibility.
Stay tuned for updates. Ghost Rider is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2028.
