New Rumored AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Details Tease Doctor Doom’s “Vendetta” and Avengers vs. X-Men Showdown
Marvel fans are still in the dark about most of Avengers: Doomsday, but new rumors are hinting at some massive story beats that could shake the Multiverse Saga in a big way.
While Marvel Studios is keeping secrets locked up as tightly as they did for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, a few interesting pieces are starting to surface.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, a central conflict in Avengers: Doomsday will come from the X-Men universe colliding with other realities, including Earth-616.
That’s not too far off from the Secret Wars comics, where the main Marvel Universe went head-to-head with the Ultimate Universe. In the source material, worlds facing an Incursion could only be saved by destroying the other reality. That could very well explain Magneto’s role in the film.
One key link may come from The Marvels, where Monica Rambeau accidentally landed in Earth-10005, the universe of Fox’s X-Men movies. It now looks like that multiversal mix-up is going to be much more important than anyone realized.
Richtman also claims that Doctor Doom will enter the picture with a personal “vendetta against the Multiverse.” The details are under wraps, but the idea of Victor Von Doom trying to wipe out every reality to build a single “Sacred Timeline” under his control sounds like a chilling new step beyond Kang the Conqueror’s plans.
When the Russo Brothers were asked about the state of the MCU since they directed Endgame, Anthony Russo admitted, "Yes, the MCU has got quite large, that’s for sure. I mean, frankly, we struggle with that same issue. But part of the reason Joe and I decided to go back is exactly what you’re talking about. There needs to be more of a central narrative."
He continued, "That was something we were very specific about when we worked with Marvel [before]. We would like to bring the focused narrative back."
Part of that bold plan reportedly involves bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to the MCU, but not as Iron Man. Instead, he’s stepping into the role of Doctor Doom.
When pressed on how and why this shocking casting twist works, Anthony teased, "We can’t explain that as it’s part of the story. But there’s nobody else in the world who could play this character the way he’s about to."
The film is being directed by the Russos from a script by Stephen McFeely, with contributions from Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron.
That creative team has already proven they know how to juggle massive crossover storytelling, and this sounds like their biggest challenge yet.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
