New Rumored Details for THE MANDALORIAN Reveal a Surprising Plot Element

Some interesting new information has surfaced regarding Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. The rumored details offer us an idea of what it is that kick-starts the journey of this new Mandalorian character who will be played by Pedro Pascal.

The information that has been shared is backed by two separate sources including reddit user u/Xyzsvtabc on StarWarsLeaks and Making Star Wars. I know a lot of you are curious to know what exactly the plot will entail, so let’s jump right into it:

I guess the Mandalorian encounters a baby on one of his missions that he is supposed to kill, but instead of that, he ends up saving it and a lot of the rest of the story revolves around their growing relationship and his efforts to keep the child safe and protected.

So, there ya have it. The Mandalorian will tell the story of a bounty hunter protecting a baby that he was sent to kill. I imagine that his bosses won’t be too happy about that.

There were earlier rumors that the series would be about “the heir to Mandalore and the hero [who] was on a quest to restore Mandalore.” Making Star Wars wonders if “that’s still the great plot of the story or if maybe this baby is the ‘heir’ I assumed was the hero in the Mando suit.”

So The Mandalorian might actually be this baby, and there are some set photos may even support this concept. It’s explained that set photos show that the main character has something strapped to his back and that could be a baby.

This whole series just took a very interesting turn. If this is actually the case, it’s a Star Wars story that I can enthusiastically get behind! The site goes on to speculate:

If the child is the key to restoring Mandalore, it has some really interesting ramifications for the future of Star Wars. The child will pretty much be the same age as characters like Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron. What if the restoration isn’t complete until after Star Wars: Episode IX? Could this child be a main character we’re going to get to know in the future of Star Wars beyond the sequel trilogy? Mandalore rising again is pretty great for Mandalore but will it be for everyone else and the republic attempting to reform in the aftermath of The First Order?

There’s a lot of fun stuff to think and speculate about there. It’s also said that the Mando’s armor will change throughout the series. Apparently, by episode three of the series, “the Mando costume we saw in the official photo is totally different. Basically, the Mando has a full on different suit compared to what we saw in the photo.”

The series also stars Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, and Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator). Favreau wrote and produced the series, which is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order and follows “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.” It’s also said that part of the series will be taking place on Tatooine.

The episodes will be directed by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

The series is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime next year.
