New Rumored Plot Details From THE BATMAN: PART II Tease a "Darker and Sadder" Sequel
New rumors have surfaced this week regarding the upcoming highly anticipated sequel The Batman: Part II. According to a new post on the Leaks and Rumors subreddit citing two separate sources (via SuperHeroHype), the film’s story will be “way more intimate than people expect.”
The user mentions that the movie will focus on how Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent, and the Arkham family are all connected “in ways Bruce hasn’t fully confronted yet.”
The post says that the movie picks up shortly after HBO’s The Penguin series and will see Harvey Dent being the face of reform at Arkham Asylum. The post continues to detail more aspects of the movie, including how Harvey Dent eventually becomes Two-Face, and notes the movie’s plot is “way darker and sadder” than people expect.
In a follow-up comment from the same source, it’s mentioned that the movie opens up with a flashback to Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent as teenagers, establishing their friendship early on.
The post also suggests that Scarlett Johansson will play the role of Vicki Vale, a journalist investigating things in the movie, and that the Arkham doctor is meant to be Jonathan Crane, “making Scarecrow the main villain” of the movie. More information is available in the Reddit thread.
Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the movie, Colin Farrell is returning as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis will be back as Alfred, with Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent. Zoe Kravitz is not expected to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle.
Co-written by returning director Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin, The Batman: Part II is expected to kick off production this spring.
The Batman: Part II will be released in theaters on October 1, 2027.
