New Rumors Regarding Lucasfilm's KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Possible Film and TV Series

Lucasfilm has yet to officially announce what is in store for the future of the Star Wars film franchise. I’m sure there are several different projects in development that they have to choose from and Kathleen Kennedy previously confirmed that they were developing a Knights of the Old Republic project.

Thanks to Fandomwire, we have some possible new details to share with you. Knights of the Old Republic is set almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire. There have been a ton of novels and comic books that have spun off of the game since it was released.

The Knights of the Old Republic is massive and there’s a vast era to cover. According to the recent rumor, Lucasfilm isn’t only planning films set in this era, they are also developing a TV series. This way they can cover as much story as possible.

Also, it doesn't sound like these projects will be an adaptation of the video game, it might instead tell other stories during that time in the Star Wars universe, before the rule of two and at a time where Revan and Malek were in their prime.

Fans have been wanting to see the era of Knights of the Old Republic explored in live-action projects for years, and it’s certainly possible that it could happen one day.

It was also recently rumored that the new Star Wars film could be set 400 years prior to the events of the Skywalker saga during an era known as The High Republic. It was also rumored that it would feature Yoda in his prime and that the plot of the films “would involve a group of Jedi setting out to explore the then-unknown regions of the Galaxy.” And that the “Jedi would get involved in numerous adventures and conflicts with three different types of enemies, the darkest being ancient evils, Sith gods of some sort.”

The Star Wars films are on pause right now, but they will be returning in 2022.
