New Sneak Peek For Pixar's SOUL Features Joe Trying To Teach his Middle School Class
Disney has released a new sneak peak at Pixar’s Soul which is getting close to its Disney+ debut on December 25th.
The video features Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), who is a middle-school band teacher who dreams of playing in the best jazz club in town. Here we see a scene of him teaching his class.
Here’s the film’s synopsis:
Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx) is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
Director Pete Docter talked about the film and explained that he grew up in a musical family and plays the double bass, and his experience served as inspiration of the film:
“My folks are both teachers and both musicians. There are three kids and we all became musicians. I think my mom enjoyed having the Von Trapp family; when people would come over, we'd have to perform. My two sisters stuck with it—one is a cellist with the Metropolitan Opera, and the other one is violist and a teacher.”
