New SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Clip Features Spidey and Doctor Strange in a Little Fight
A brief new clip from Spider-Man: No Way Home has surfaced, and it features a little fight scene between Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. We’ve seen a clip of this scene in the trailers when Strange knocks the astral form out of Peter’s body, but this this is an extended version of that scene.
When Peter tries to get away, Strange amusingly states, "This is why I never had kids.” It’s been teased that the relationship between these two characters is going to be super strained and that relationship breaks down.
When previously talking about the relationship of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, Tom Holland offered up this little tidbit of information:
"It’s a very different relationship [from Tony Stark and Peter Parker]. I wouldn’t consider Doctor Strange as a mentor in this film – it’s more as a colleague. At this point in the films, Spider-Man has established himself as quite a powerful and serious Avenger. Doctor Strange sees that in him, and treats him like an equal. And throughout the course of the film, their relationship breaks down. And rather than becoming colleagues – they don’t become enemies, but they’re definitely not friends.
"Spider-Man always wants to please everyone. He always wants everyone to be happy. And then, in this instance, that’s not the case. It’s an interesting relationship. It’s very, very different from the one of Tony and Peter. But it’s a fun one. And obviously Benedict [Cumberbatch] – I love him to bits. He’s such a good guy. I’ve worked with him loads of times now, and I’ve always really enjoyed it. He’s been a real joy and pleasure to work with. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange are a great mix. They look great onscreen. The balance between them is very funny."
In the movie, “For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
Some of the villains in the film include Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx's Electro, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Sandman. Lizard also shows up.
The cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
