New SPY Trailer and Poster: Melissa McCarthy Becomes a Secret Agent

Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig reunites with star Melissa McCarthy for Spy, the upcoming comedy that sees McCarthy playing a desk jockey who is thrust into the field under extreme circumstances. It's essentially the same concept as Get Smart, but it's a vague enough premise that it should allow for some good variation and nice opportunities for McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Jude Law, and the rest of the cast to get some laughs in between action sequences.

The film premiered at this year's South by Southwest Film Festival and received pretty stellar reviews, so I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I skipped both The Heat and Tammy, but this new trailer and the positive early word of mouth has convinced me that Spy is worth checking out. Watch for yourselves below.

Susan Cooper is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner falls off the grid and another top agent is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.

Spy opens on June 5th.
