New STAR TREK BEYOND TV Spot Shows the Human Side of Idris Elba's Villain

Paramount Pictures has released a new TV spot for Star Trek Beyond, and it features some surprising new information about Idris Elba's villain Krall. It shows us that the alien character that Elba plays was actually once human. In a video transmission that you'll see in the spot, Krall says:

“The Federation do not care about us. They abandoned this planet long ago. You’ll probably never see me again. But if you do, be ready.”

Needless to say, he's pissed off and hellbent on revenge when the Enterprise and its crew shows up. When previously talking to EW about the history of his character he said:

“There’s some history that we explore, to understand why he feels the frontier needs to push back. There’s definitely an opposing argument to the good that the Federation think they do.
“There are purists that believe in independence, and believe that we’re all made differently for a reason, and will fight tooth and nail to defend that. There’s massive relatability to modern world politics in that sense.”

Star Trek Beyond is set to be released on July 22nd. In case you missed Ben's review of the film, you can check it out here
