New STAR WARS Show Unites Anakin, Padmé, Luke, and Leia for the First Time

Disney’s upcoming animated series Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past is about to pull off something no other Star Wars project has ever done. Not only is it flipping the saga’s history on its head by making Obi-Wan Kenobi evil, but it’s also bringing the Skywalker family together on screen as a unit for the very first time.

The series is throwing out the timeline and will unite Anakin, Padmé, Luke, and Leia Skywalker in one story. Writer and executive producer Benji Samit explained to StarWars.com:

“This may be the only opportunity to ever see the Skywalker family unit, to get all four of them interacting with each other. It felt like something that maybe we could be the only ones to show that to the fans and to ourselves.”

That’s a big moment for the franchise because, within the established Star Wars canon, this was never possible. But, the whoile LEGO thing is making it possible.

Padmé died right after giving birth to Luke and Leia, which meant they never got to know their mother. Their father, Anakin, had already fallen to the dark side before their birth, becoming Darth Vader.

While Luke eventually faced him in one of the most iconic confrontations in cinema history, the man behind the mask was nothing like the father he should have known.

So how can this happen now? Fans of the first season of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy already know the series doesn’t play by the usual rules.

Instead, it reshapes beloved characters and events in ways that would never fit into the live-action universe. Voice actor Tony Revolori, who plays Dev Greebling, summed it up perfectly: “Nowhere and everywhere.”

This season also introduces Padmé into the mix for the first time. According to Samit, she arrives with a playful twist. “Pirates are such a big part of Star Wars, but we wanted to do our fun more Lego-ish take and that’s where she came from.”

Seeing the Skywalker family interact as a complete unit is something fans have only ever imagined, and this series is finally making it real.

You can catch the reunion when all episodes of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past drop on Disney Plus starting September 19.
