New STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Photo Reveals Babu Frik and There Are Two Questions Driving The Story

We’ve got some more news to share with you regarding J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Thanks to StarWars.com we have a photo of a new alien character in the film named Babu Frik. The image came along with an announcement that there’s a contest for fans to enter to attend the big premiere of the film in December.

Here’s a description of the alien that was released:

“The tiny Anzellan droidsmith works among the Spice Runners of Kijimi and can reprogram or modify virtually any droid — regardless of the security measures protecting its systems.”

A droidsmith huh… that’s cool! It’ll be interesting to see how exactly the character ends up being utilized in the story, but I’m sure he’ll be doing some work on a droid or two.

In a separate report from Empire, The Rise of Skywalker writer Chris Terrio talks about two questions that he says will drive the story for the final chapter in the story forward. Those two questions involve Rey and The Force. In regards to Rey, Terrio says:

“One of them is a simple one: ‘Who is Rey?’ Which is a question that people not only wonder about quite literally, but wonder about in the spiritual sense. How can Rey become the spiritual heir to the Jedi? We kept coming back to ‘Who is Rey?’, and how can we give the most satisfying answer to that not only factually – because obviously people are interested in whether there’s more to be learned of Rey’s story – but more importantly who is she as a character? How will she find the courage and will and inner strength and power to carry on what she’s inherited?”

Yeah, it would certainly be nice to know what exactly is going on with Rey and what the reason is for her existence in this story. There are a lot of questions about Rey and her place in the galaxy. They better answer these questions or fans are gonna be pissed! I’m sure the story will dive into her past and reveal how it will affect with whatever happens in The Rise of Skywalker.

Terrio went on to talk about The Force, saying:

“The second one is, ‘How strong is the Force?’ It sounds a little simple, but actually when you get down to it, that is a sort of Zen Koan that we would really meditate on – not literally in yoga poses or anything, but like we would discuss, ‘What is the Force and how strong is the Force?’ Those two things were really important.”

That’s certainly something I would love to see! I hope that this movie actually shows us the max power of The Force because that would be amazing! Taking The Force to the limits… that’s exciting!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives in theaters on December 18, 2019.
