New SUGAR Season 2 Trailer Sends Colin Farrell Back Into the Dark Corners of Los Angeles

Apple TV has released the first trailer for season two of Sugar, and it looks like Colin Farrell’s mysterious private investigator is about to get dragged into another dangerous mess lurking beneath the surface of Los Angeles.

The footage teases a fresh missing persons case for John Sugar, but this one quickly spirals into something much bigger involving gang violence, crooked cops, and a growing conspiracy stretching across the city.

The new season also appears to be leaning even harder into the stylish neo-noir atmosphere that made the first season such a cool ride.

If you’ve watched Season 1, you know Sugar isn’t exactly your average detective. The trailer keeps that particular reveal mostly tucked away until the final moments, offering a sly reminder that Farrell’s character “is not from around here, actually. He’s from somewhere very far away indeed.”

Apple TV released the official synopsis for the new season, saying: “Season two ushers in the return of Los Angeles’s iconic private detective and film connoisseur John Sugar, played by Colin Farrell, who stayed on Earth in hopes of finding his sister as he takes on a new missing persons case—searching for the older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer.

“As the investigation expands into a sinister, city-wide conspiracy, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question—how far will he go to do what’s right?”

Season 2 is also bringing in a lineup of new cast members including Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle, and Shea Whigham.

The first episode premieres on June 19 on Apple TV, with the rest of the eight-episode season rolling out weekly.

If the first season hooked you with its mix of old-school detective storytelling, strange sci-fi turns, and moody Los Angeles energy, this next chapter looks ready to crank everything up another level.
