New SUPERGIRL Clip Appears to Spoil the Movie’s Ending and Fans Are Not Happy About It

With just days to go before the release of Supergirl, Warner Bros. has dropped a new clip from the film, and hard not to wonder why they would release this particular scene.

The newly released footage has sparked frustration across social media because it appears to reveal a major sequence from what many believe is the movie’s climactic final battle. While studios have always walked a fine line when marketing blockbuster films, many viewers feel this latest Supergirl preview crosses it.

The clip features Milly Alcock's Supergirl squaring off against Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, with Ruthye Marye Knoll present during the confrontation. It also features Jason Momoa's Lobo as he tearing through Krem’s henchmen.

The issue fans have isn't that the footage looks bad. The sequence actually looks pretty cool. The problem is that it seems to reveal far too much.

Supergirl is fully suited up and engaging Krem in what looks very much like the story’s big showdown. Anyone familiar with the original Woman of Tomorrow comic series immediately recognized the significance of the scene.

In the eight-issue miniseries, Supergirl’s confrontation with Krem takes place in the final issue, serving as the payoff to the entire journey.

Now, it’s possible that director Craig Gillespie and the filmmakers have rearranged elements of the story for the movie adaptation. We won't know for sure until audiences see the finished film.

But based on the footage that was released, it certainly looks like Warner Bros. may have handed viewers a glimpse of one of the movie’s biggest moments before opening weekend.

That has led to plenty of angry reactions online, with fans questioning why the studio would post such a revealing clip so close to release. Some have argued that when this footage is combined with the trailers that have already been released, much of the film’s major narrative progression can now be pieced together.

It's a complaint that has become increasingly common with modern blockbuster marketing. Studios want to generate excitement and convince audiences to buy tickets, but fans often feel marketing campaigns reveal too much in the process. In this case, many DC fans think Warner Bros. pushed things a little too far.

Of course, not everyone is upset. Plenty of viewers came away even more excited for the film after seeing the clip.

Whether the footage ultimately spoils a major part of the movie or turns out to be a carefully selected misdirect remains to be seen. Either way, it’s kind of wild that Warner Bros. decided to put this scene out into the world before audiences had a chance to experience the movie for themselves.

The future of the Supergirl already appears bright beyond this adventure. Supergirl is expected to return in Man of Tomorrow next year as DC Studios continues building its interconnected universe.

For now, though, some fans are focused on avoid ingany more potential spoilers before Supergirl arrives in theaters on June 26, 2026.
