New SUPERGIRL Posters and Art + Milly Alcock Talks About Deciding Not to Contact Past Supergirl Actresses

Milly Alcock was deemed the best girl for the job of creating a modern take on the superhero Supergirl. She debuted the character in last summer’s Superman, and we are coming up on her own solo film to continue her story within the DC universe.

When talking about the idea of reaching out to former Supergirl actresses for camaraderie or support in taking on the role, Alcock told Vanity Fair that she ultimately decided against talking to her predecessors, Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle. "They’re just people living their lives," she explained, "It’s not like we have this blood bond."

Benoist was gracious when she was asked about her successor last summer. "Yeah, of course I'll support! Once you've donned the glyph, you're part of a very small club of people that has worn capes. So it always feels special when any iteration of the story and the canon comes to life, so I will be there to support."

Calle has also expressed support for Alcock, stating, "Have so much fun. You look so badass, I love that. Just f***ing kill it."

Judging by the test screenings that have taken place, Alcock has done just that. Her portrayal of Kara Zor-El has been praised across the board, and fans are looking forward to seeing her back in the role.

Check out some of the new posters and promo art that have been released for the film below, and get ready to watch Supergirl in theatres on June 26th.
