New Superman Writer Explains Kenan Kong and What Makes The Chinese Superman Different

Since day one, I've been super interested in the idea of The New Superman. After all, Superman grew up as an all-American farmboy, so changing the nationality and culture of the character is a unique transformation entirely even if the powers remain the same.

One quote I liked in particular from this interview with writer Gene Luen Yang is when he describes the fundamental difference between Kenan Kong and Clark Kent:

"We get to take what's universal in Superman, and explore it in a new cultural context...that's what this first story arc is all about."
