New Teaser Trailer and Details For M. Night Shyamalan's Chilling New Series SERVANT
We’ve got a new teaser trailer and some additional details to share with you regarding M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming Apple TV+ series Servant. We also have some new details to share with you as well.
Servant is described as "a new psychological thriller” and the story follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force, in the form of a nanny, to enter their home.
The chilling looking series was created and written by Tony Basgallop and it has a great cast that includes Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint. Shymalan talked about the tone of the series during a recent panel at NYCC saying:
“The premise of this piece is that a couple lost a child and they’re doing fringe therapy with a doll. It’s a real therapy. [But] it gets so extreme that the mother decides to hire a nanny to take care of the doll. It’s sad but also super funny… That’s the kind of tone I’m interested in, like with Split and The Visit, where you’re so scared you’re laughing.”
The half-hour thriller is all set in the couple’s apartment and it never leaves that setting. As you know, Shyamalan likes telling contained stories and he has big ambitions for this one. He would like the series to run for 60 episodes over the course of six years:
“The great thing about the format is it’s a character-driven format. You come week to week to connect to the characters and I love that.”
The filmmaker went on to talk about the cast of the series saying:
“It couldn’t have been orchestrated any other way. When I saw Lauren Ambrose’s audition, it was like a lightning bolt. Toby auditioned and this guy felt like a revelation. And then Rupert from Harry Potter, he came in, and he’s transcendent in the show; it’s like a different human being from what we saw as a child. Everyone are incredibly physical actors, because it’s a very contained piece. Nell walks in and against all of this energy, you have this quiet, mysterious quality of someone who’s discovering themselves. That energy, the four of them, is like…magic.”
Well, I’m sold! Servant premieres on Apple TV+ on November 28, 2019. Check out the new teaser trailer below:
