New Teaser Trailer For MORTAL KOMBAT II Wants Your Most Savage “FINISH HIM” Impression
Round two is almost here.
Warner Bros. Pictures has officially announced when fans will get their next look at Mortal Kombat II thanks to a new teaser trailer, and it’s coming sooner than you might think. The second full trailer for the highly anticipated video game adaptation will debut on February 25, 2026, during IGN Fan Fest.
This sequel lands five years after 2021’s Mortal Kombat, once again pulling from the legendary fighting game franchise that’s been delivering bone-crunching action for decades.
This time around, Johnny Cage joins Earthrealm’s champions as they square off against the ruthless Shao Khan. If you know the games, you already understand the stakes. If you don’t, let’s just say the fate of an entire realm hangs in the balance.
Warner Bros. didn’t just drop the date and call it a day. They added a fun twist to the announcement by giving fans a chance to introduce the trailer themselves.
In the short teaser montage released packed with quick shots from the upcoming film, the studio invited fans to post their best impressions of the franchise’s iconic battle cries, “GET OVER HERE” and “FINISH HIM,” along with the hashtag #MortalKombatKall.
Select fan submissions will be used to help introduce the trailer during IGN Fan Fest. It’s a pretty cool way to get the fan community involved.
IGN Fan Fest is already shaping up to be a major event. Alongside the new Mortal Kombat II trailer, fans can expect fresh looks at Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling, One Piece Season 2: Into the Grand Line, and the revival of Scrubs.
On the gaming side, the event will feature updates on 007 First Light, Crimson Desert, and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
The first trailer for Mortal Kombat II dropped back in July, and fans showed up in a big way. The trailer has already pulled in 380k likes and 12.6 million views as of this writing. That kind of engagement says a lot about how ready audiences are to jump back into the tournament.
The film’s road to release hasn’t been totally smooth. It was originally slated for October 24, 2025, before shifting to May 15, 2026, and finally settling on May 8, 2026. Now that the date is locked, it looks like the studio is confident in where things stand.
Mortal Kombat II is directed once again by Simon McQuoid, who returns after helming the first film. The screenplay comes from Jeremy Slater, who is stepping into the arena to bring the next chapter of this brutal saga to life.
The movie stars Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada reprising their roles from the previous film. They are joined by Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, and Tati Gabrielle.
