New Teaser Trailer for RESPECT Starring Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin
MGM has released a new teaser for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect. Jennifer Hudson takes on the role of Franklin, and the trailer starts off with Hudson singing the iconic song “Respect” and features various clips of Frankin’s rise to fame.
Respect follows “the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, Respect is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.”
In addition to Hudson, the film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige.
Liesl Tommy (Mrs. Fletcher, The Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Queen Sugar) makes her feature directorial debut with this movie from a script written by Tracey Scott Wilson (The Americans).
Respect hits theaters on October 9, 2020.
