New THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER LEGO Set Features an Epic Action Scene with Gorr the God-Butcher
A new LEGO set from Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder has surfaced and it features an epic battle taking place on a Viking ship.
The set includes Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Korg (Taika Waititi) as they battle against Gorr the God-Butcher (Christian Bale). There are also a couple of goats. Yeah, they are only minifig versions of the characters, but it teases a scene that we might actually end up seeing in the movie. That’s what these Marvel LEGO sets tend to give us.
When previously talking about Love and Thunder and how it will be different from any other entry and feature much more emotion, director Taika Waititi said:
“It’s very different from Ragnarok. It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”
The filmmaker went on to say that the movie is the “craziest” film he’s ever made, and then teased:
“If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love and Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”
When it comes to Gorr the God-Butcher, in the comics Gorr nearly kills Thor after slaying many gods from various pantheons. This is a fascinating character and I’m excited and curious to see how his story arc ends up paying out in the film.
One of the storylines for the film features Jane Foster taking on the mantle of Thor. That story arc is based on Jason Aaron’s comic book run on The Mighty Thor, the story of which follows a cancer-stricken Jane Foster as she takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to arrive in theaters on May 6, 2022.
