New Trailer and Details for POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS
Pokémon Legends: Arceus will take place in the Sinnoh region before all the vast cities from Diamond and Pearl were built as you explore to fill the first Pokédex of the region. You’ll receive an arc phone that not only contains a mysterious power, but some sort of connection to Arceus as well.
We now know that there will be alpha Pokémon in the game. These alphas will be bigger, have glowing red eyes, and will be far more aggressive than regular Pokémon so players beware. We have also been given details about noble Pokémon. Nobles seem to have been given a mysterious blessing and are highly revered by the locals. They are so important that there are wardens dedicated to protecting them and providing offerings of food and water.
Though these Pokémon are revered, a strange phenomenon is causing them to become frenzied and dangerous. One such noble that the trailer shows us is Kleavor, a Rock/Bug type variant Scyther evolution that looks super cool. Players will also be given a Celestica flute which will allow them to summon three different rideable Pokémon: Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and Hisuian Braviary. This part of the game looks really fun and I get the feeling I’ll spend a decent portion of my time playing just riding around on Wyrdeer.
Finally, we’ve been given some information about the various things you can do in your home village of Jubilife. A list of buildings to visit are:
The clothier and hairdresser: Players can mix up outfits and hairstyles at the clothier and the hairdresser to choose their look.
The photography studio: Players can take pictures alongside their Pokémon at the photography studio.
The general store and craftworks: If players used up their items on a previous excursion, they can replenish their supplies at the general store. They can also use in-game currency to buy new crafting recipes and materials from the craftworks.
The pastures: The pastures are where players can leave Pokémon that have been caught. Many Pokémon will need to be caught to complete the Pokédex, but only six Pokémon can be taken along in a party. Players will want to choose the right Pokémon for each mission before heading out on surveys. At any of the various base camps, players can change which Pokémon they have in the party or send Pokémon to the pastures.
Overall, I’m very excited for this game. It looks like the perfect blend of Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I love the concept of having a big open world of Pokémon to explore in a different way than the previous Pokémon titles. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released January 28, 2022 and is currently available for preorder.
