New Trailer for AFTER THE HUNT Starring Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri Turns Up the Tension

Amazon MGM Studios has dropped a new trailer for After the Hunt, the latest thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and is heading to the New York Film Festival this week before opening in theaters this October.

The story follows a college professor who finds herself in a dangerous balancing act after a star student accuses one of her colleagues of misconduct. As the situation spirals, a secret from her past resurfaces and threatens to destroy everything she has built.

The official synopsis teases: “Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable.” The film stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny.

The new trailer shifts the focus squarely onto Roberts and how her character navigates the fallout. It feels like Guadagnino and the studio are leaning into the criticism from early reactions, showing just how personal and unsettling this drama really is.

This looks like another gripping entry in Guadagnino’s career, and with Roberts and Edebiri front and center, After the Hunt looks like one of the most intriguing films of the fall season.

After the Hunt is directed by Guadagnino from a screenplay by Nora Garrett and produced by Jeb Brody, Brian Grazer, Allan Mandelbaum, and Guadagnino himself.

The U.S. release begins on October 10, 2025, with a wide expansion starting October 17.
